Safety

E.S. Wagner Company is committed to the safety, health and well-being of our employees. Our comprehensive approach includes education, on-the-job training and injury prevention efforts. It’s a commitment that not only benefits our employees and their families, but our business partners and clients as well. We strive for continuous improvement in safety performance in every area of our operations.

Zero Accident Philosophy
Workplace accidents are costly and unacceptable. We believe they are also preventable. Through our “zero accident philosophy,” E.S. Wagner is striving to eliminate all workplace injuries and illnesses. This goal can only be achieved by continuously improving our Integrated Safety Management System, which consists of hazard recognition, elimination or reduction, and the modification of unsafe behaviors.

E.S. Wagner believes the following principles form the foundation of a safe organization:

  • Knowledge in the discipline of safety
  • Awareness of each individual’s responsibility to identify and eliminate unsafe work practices and conditions
  • An understanding that a safe work environment requires teamwork and engaged participation by all members of the organization
  • A culture of accountability for safety and health, at the individual level, as well as the safety and health of others

A zero accident workplace can only be instilled through a wide range of training and educational programs. Throughout the year, our managers, supervisors and key personnel attend safety and health training sessions applicable to the work environment. The skills learned are then reinforced and applied through site-specific and on-the-job safety exercises.

Integrated Safety Management
E.S. Wagner Safety ClassThe E.S. Wagner Integrated Safety Management System (ISMS) is a disciplined approach for incorporating safety into all phases of operations. The elements of ISMS are fundamental to our management philosophy and necessary for safe workplace performance. As is common practice, we continually review ISMS practices to ensure that our processes and mechanisms are protecting workers effectively. Moreover, by encouraging an open door approach to employee involvement, we’re able to make continuous improvements with input from the very people who use it every day.

Safety and Health Incentives
E.S. Wagner recognizes that safety is only as important as our people make it. We appreciate the commitment that our employees demonstrate every day. In return, we have developed incentive packages that provide extra compensation to employees for adopting safe work practices and avoiding accidents. We also recognize the achievements of supervisors who promote and achieve outstanding safety records.

Total Commitment to Safety Excellence
Our mantra is actually quite simple – excellence is a demonstrated commitment to safety through planned, consistent actions. It starts at the highest corporate level and reaches every individual. Together, we achieve our goal of safety excellence.

“E.S. Wagner Company’s excellent safety record on this project is a direct result of your overall commitment and continuous emphasis on safety. The ability of your employees to work together in the pursuit of a safe project demonstrated true professionalism worthy of emulation by other contractors Corps-wide.”
