ODOT 050004-05 (0502)

E.S. Wagner Co. served as prime contractor on ODOT project 0004-05 in Wood County, Ohio. Construction started on this 2-mile rehabilitation of U.S. Route 20 and the interchange of State Route 420 in the spring of 2005 and was substantially complete in November 2006, seven months ahead of schedule. The early completion was due in large part to an E.S. Wagner Co. value engineering proposal that altered the Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) plan for the project. Under the value engineering proposal, E.S. Wagner Co. acquired additional property for construction of a new temporary roadway. The construction of the new value engineered temporary road eliminated the need for multiple traffic switches and improved the work sequence and overall safety of the project.

This project consisted of three bridge structures, 16,000 square feet of MSE wall and 135,000 square yards of 12 plain concrete pavement. Additional features of this project included 560,000 cubic yards of embankment, 70,000 cubic yards of excavation, 44,000 square yards of pavement removal and the installation of 18,000 lineal feet of pipe varying in diameter from 6 to 42.

In recognition for an outstanding project, the Ohio Contractors Association voted E.S. Wagner Co. as the recipient of the 2007 Move Ohio Award for construction projects in the $10,000,000.00 to $20,000,000.00 category and the Ohio Department of Transportation recognized E.S. Wagners exceptional work by awarding a perfect project score of 100%.
