Since the early 1980s, E.S. Wagner has purchased limestone aggregates from National Lime & Stone Company. It was that purchasing relationship that allowed us in 1994 the opportunity to become involved in bidding their wintertime overburden removal. Almost every winter for the last 16 years, E. S. Wagner has excavated and spoiled overburden at several National Lime & Stone quarry locations. The total cubic yards to date are 11,805,461.
In 2001, our interaction with National further expanded to include engineering assistance in not only performing the quarry stripping, but also management of the position of the spoil placement to aid in more efficient quarrying of the limestone.
Again in 2005, another opportunity was presented; during our engineering and management discussions for the upcoming seasons work, it was explained that quarry reclamation had become a major focus of the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. Once again, E. S. Wagner developed a plan to spoil the overburden in a manner that allowed the reclamation process to be completed in conjunction with the stripping, plus managing the water run off with topsoiling, soil berms, rock lined let downs, and seeding. In the three seasons since, E.S. Wagner has stripped and placed an additional 153,700 cubic yards of topsoil; installed 1,900 cubic yards of rock let downs and reclaimed 86 acres of mined quarry slope. At the end of each seasons work, the edge of the spoil pile is left in a condition to not only receive the next years spoil but also is prepared to continue the reclamation work.
E. S. Wagner is very proud of the relationship with National Lime & Stone and the opportunity to have aided them in such a way that their products are produced in as cost effective manner as possible.
